Project

Research:

My first step was to research and find the logistics for the houses. To the right is a bunch of research that I found to about finding vacant houses. Below and to the right are some of the logistics that I found for

the houses. Below on the pink sticky notes are the possible addresses that I found for the first couple of houses, the house types that I originally planned for and which addresses would have which house. Below the pink sticky notes on the left are the first possible addresses just on google maps. Below the pink sticky notes on the right are those same addresses just in a website that I used to find vacant and condemned houses (linked here)

Above are images of my first prototypes for the layouts of the houses. On the left was a layout that I had made for the 2 bed, 1 bath houses. In the middle was a layout that I had made for the 1 bed, 1 bath houses. On the right was a layout that I made for a 2 story house. These were layouts that I made when I was just starting to think about the houses, but I ended up making only 2 types of houses instead of 4.

Above is the final layout that I created for the 2 tiny houses on one property. The image on the left is the second floor of the tiny houses which has a bedroom in each house and a balcony. The image in the middle is the first floor of the tiny houses which has a kitchen, bathroom, and living room. The image on the right (above) is the basement of the tiny houses, there is only one because the two tiny houses would share a basement which includes a shared laundry room and utiles, as well as storage room. The image to the right is a plan that I created for what the exterior of the house would look like.

Above is the final layout that I created for the multigenerational houses. The image on the left is the second floor which includes 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, living room, and a deck. The image in the middle is the first floor which includes everything you need to live a bedroom, bathroom, a kitchen for the whole house, a living room, as well as a tiny laundry room. I did it that way so that elderly and people with disabilities are able to still able to have a house. The image on the right is the basement which includes 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, living room, and a larger laundry room for the rest of the house.

Create the Houses in a 3D software:

To the left is a picture of the models for two different types of houses that I designed for Clean Slate Housing. The house on the left is the design for the multigenerational houses, and the houses on the right is the design for the two tiny houses on the same property.

The images to the left and the one above is the layout that I created for the multigenerational houses. The image on the far left is the second floor, the closer image on the left is the main floor, and the image above is the basement. The thing with this type of house is that I designed it so that a ton of people could live in one house as well as allowing elderly/people with disabilities to live on the first floor and have everything that they need to live.

The images to the left and the one above is the layout that I created for the two tiny houses on one property. The image on the far left is the second floor, the closer image to the left is the main floor, and the image above is the basement. The thing with this type of house is that I designed it to be a way for people to have their independence but for it to not take up a lot of space. As well with the basement the two houses would share a basement to cut down on costs when building the house, and they would only be sharing a laundry room and utilities.

import houses into a vr program:

To the right is a picture of what the houses looked like in CoSpaces. I did this so that people at the Expo would be able to walk around inside the houses and explore them, unfortunately that didn't work the way that I wanted it to so I never used it during the Expo. Even though I never used this during the Expo the reason I still included this on this page was because it was a step that I still took with my project that I really wanted to work but sometimes things just don't go to plan.

Find logistics for the non-profit:

To the right is a picture of the logistics that I created for the non-profit. The categories I choose were because of the professional review night, during my conversation with my reviewers the topics that kept being brought up are the topics that I talked about in my logistics.

start designing the website:

To the left is a picture of a plan that I created for what I wanted to be included on Clean Slate Housing's website. Above is a video of what the website for Clean Slate Housing looked like before I added all of the information. This was just a basic layout to get the colors, pictures, and text areas where I wanted them to be

finish designing the website:

To the right is a video of my final completed website for Clean Slate Housing. I did end up changing the colors of my website so it would match the colors of my poster and infographic and so I could have a cohesive color scheme. You are also able to acess that website here if you would like to.
